It is still possible for human beings to see the divine mystery of the elements, to become fascinated by their nature and movements and the forms that arise from them. At the moment when the elements come back to life in this way, we have reentered the sacred twilight domain of the alchemist and begin to see our soul reflected in the natural world.
Lorie Eve Dechar
My Alchemical Acupuncture work is centered around the wisdom traditions of Taoist Alchemy and Five Element Acupuncture. I practice a gentle style, using a minimal amount of needles as well as moxibustion, essential oils and flower essences. Going into the somatic landscape, uniting spirit and body, we begin untying deep knots, resolving stubborn symptoms, reclaiming lost parts, integrating to a new wholeness and incarnation of self. Honoring the deep knowings of our soul, unbinding the shackles of external expectations of who or how we are “supposed to be,” reclaiming our lives, our health, and ultimately, ourselves. So, yes, we can treat your sore back, GI distress, chronic foot pain, autoimmune conditions, insomnia, and whatever else you’ve got, and we can also treat YOU.
Transformational Healing
After many years of chronic, “incurable” health challenges and childhood trauma, I have found great freedom and transformation through alchemical healing and inner cultivation. With a passion to share this work, I began my healing practice 2 decades ago. Acupuncture and Inner Cultivation have become allies. Fun fact, I’m also a performance artist, classically trained vocalist, dancer, and creator of Sacred Dakini Dance & Thundering Tara solo performances.
I have been a practitioner of inner cultivation arts for 20 years including martial arts, qigong, mediation, mantra, and sacred dance. These practices are the foundation stone of my life. I am offering teaching videos here on my website that can be accessed via membership.
What does Acupuncture treat?
The short answer is, anything and everything under the sun. Truly, Acupuncture is incredibly capable of treating a wide range of disease and imbalance, both chronic and acute, Some of the most common things that show up in my treatment room are mental and emotional distress such as stress, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, trauma, disassociation, mental health disorders, autoimmune diseases, allergies, irritable bowel diseases, thyroid diseases, diabetes, neuropathy, pain, back pain, sciatica, jaw tension, sinus issues, trigeminal neuralgia, nerve issues, stroke recovery, seizures, post-concussive syndrome, traumatic brain injury, oncological disorders, migraines, plantar fasciitis, insomnia, digestive disturbances , cold and flus, fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, labor induction, breech turning - to name a few.
Acupuncture works with the mai, the living network of meridians or channels, that each have correlations to different organs, body parts, sense organs, emotions, seasons, tastes, temperatures and time of day. Think of it as your own living embodiment of a circuit board, or a great web of interconnected parts, each with their own unique abilities, and all contributing to the harmonic working of the whole system. It stimulates points along those meridians using moxibustion, needles, flower essences, touch, or essential oils. Each point has a specific purpose and function, that treats the issue on all levels, mental, emotional, physical and spiritual. The treatment is tailor made for each unique patient according to their current concerns, symptoms, history, nature, and constitution. The points stimulate the qi, or living energy, blood/circulation and nerve pathways. Acupuncturist is a science an art, and a willingness to stand next to the mystery of tao.
How does it work?
Everyone is different, and each person’s transformation and healing journey is unique. Many patients notice a difference right away, sometimes with the first needle or grain of moxa. Others need more time to process the treatment and may start feeling more results within 24-48 hours. Depending on the severity and how chronic the disorder is, it may take a few sessions before some patients really starts to sense the changes the treatment is offering and initiating. There may be blocks that need to be addressed first in order for the treatment to be able to take root in the system. Simply begin with your first session and see how the treatment resonates with you. You will have a sense of it. If it is something you wish to continue, typically 4-6 weekly treatments are advised, and then we re-evaluate from there. If it’s a long term chronic condition, continued regular treatment may be advisable. If it’s something that can be remedied more quickly, treatment can shift to bi-weekly or once per month for a tune-up or as preventative medicine. If there is a mental-emotional issue that needs consistent attention, we can give it that. In the end, each patient finds their own rhythm. As we hold the vision of ourselves as whole and well, and place our devotion into our healing and inner work, one step at a time, we begin to relate differently to our challenges and ourSelves, and new possibilities and solutions emerge.
